Ian started Wave Vets by accident in 2020, in a brief period of madness and enforced unemployment during the COVID pandemic. Initially providing home visits for vulnerable and shielding pet owners, and pop-up consultations in the back of an old ambulance; the practice has now snowballed into a well-equipped facility with modern diagnostic stuff for treating poorly animals.

He joined Wave Vets in 2022, armed with a brain the size of a planet and a keen interest in internal medicine, critical-care and ultrasonography. Harrison is currently studying towards his post-graduate certificate in ‘Small Animal Cardiology’ and says lots of intelligent things.

Charlotte graduated from the RVC in London in 2013. After a brief period working in mixed practice, Charlotte quickly realised that she was much better at treating cats and dogs than cows and sheep. This was the point where she met Ian, who nurtured her interests in soft tissue surgery, dark humour, and gin. Charlotte followed her then-boyfriend (now husband) ‘up north’ to Gloucestershire, where she worked in a busy hospital practice for several years, gaining her own fancy pants certificate in ‘Emergency Medicine & Critical Care’ in 2021. Charlotte joined the Wave team in 2022, after she and her husband decided it was time to come home to Cornwall, with the additions of a cat and a little humans
Greg and Chris are both lifelong friends of Ian since growing up together at university. They helped get Wave Vets off the ground and still regularly make an appearance when holiday cover is needed. Despite their dishevelled appearance Greg has previously been the owner of a very posh veterinary hospital in Brighton and Chris used to be the Senior Vet at Stoke PDSA.
Mrs G is the glue that keeps the good ship Wave together, she is the ‘knower of all things’ and can often be found on reception to greet you and your pets, whilst making sure everyone else is doing exactly what they are told, including Mr G.
Becks took a leap of faith joining Wave early in the Pandemic. Having spent several years previously working alongside Ian she knew what she was getting herself into. She is responsible for the smooth running of the prep room, theatre and wards and has recently completed a year-long course in anaesthesia monitoring. Now she is insisting on lots of clever machines that go ‘ping’.
Ruth was our second nurse to join the good ship Wave. She is affectionately known as a force of nature and everything works perfectly as long as the vets do exactly as she says. In her spare time she likes to put the rest of the team to shame with her constant exercise and regularly rows for Mevagissey Rowing Club.
Having worked with the rest of the nurses before, Lucy arrived from a nearby practice and has easily fit back in to the chaos. She is our level headed one, whilst the rest of us run around spinning and flapping, she is an oasis of calm and keeps the team grounded
Ella joined Wave in Jan 2024 and her main interests are in-patient care, surgical nursing and putting the fear into all of the vets with her shark like demeanour..
In the short time she has been with us, she has complimented our team perfectly, although she threated me with Chinese burn if I didn't write something nice!
Rachel has moved from a Ginorma practice to our tiny little team and with 30+ years working in practice, it's safe to say she knows what's she doing. Outside of work, when she's not being a taxi for her teenage children she likes dog walking and eating.
